Please read the action item note at the bottom of this email.  The note is after the email addresses and is in bold red typeface. Letter #1 by MC (Living Wage) Congressman Trent Kelly 2243 Rayburn House Office Building Washinton, DC 20515 Dear Representative, I'm concerned about income inequality and workers rights. CEO's make $300 to every dollar workers make and many make much more than that eg., in one case 7,000 times more. Many workers struggle to support their families. Sometimes holding 2-3 part-time jobs because employers keep hours to the level not to pay benefits. In some cases like Warren Buffet CEO's pay taxes that are less than their workers, a lot less . Corporate greed is at an all time high and they stand to benefit most from the Big (not so) Beautiful Bill.   More American workers were laid off last month than any month since the pandemic. More than 300,000 federal workers will have lost their jobs by the end of 2025 and more firings are planned. A l...

This is a letter we received to protest the outrageous school choice legislation.  Please take the time to send your letter to Speaker Jason White and please let me know you’ve taken action.  jwhite@house.ms.gov August 25, 2025   Jason White, Speaker Mississippi House of Representatives 400 High Street Jackson, MS 39201 VIA HAND DELIVERY   Dear  Speaker  White:   I write to express my disapproval  of any legislation that would  use Mississippi taxpayer dollars to fund private schools.   Among my concerns about any  prospective  “school choice” bill are the following:   ▪  Transferring taxpayer dollars from public to private schools will only reverse the educational gains reflected in the “Mississippi Miracle . ”   To argue that “school choice” would improve upon these  remarkable outcomes seems counterintuitive at best, and disingenuous at worst  ( see  https://www.ncpecoalition.org/vouc...

Reply from Bennie Thompson.  I sent a letter requesting a Town Hall.  This week’s letter suggestions are below Rep Thompson’s reply   August 20, 2025 Dear Ms. Tuchel: Thank you for your idea to hold a town hall meeting in Tunica, MS. For decades, I have hosted the Mississippi Policy Conference in Tunica, MS. For participants, this annual event represents a gathering of influential business leaders, state and federal policymakers, and grassroots activists united in their goal to create a more equitable and just future for all. For town residents, it serves as a powerful reminder that while certain state lawmakers and leaders may overlook this community, we will never turn our backs on it. It is my greatest honor to serve this community, and I will not rest until every resident has the means to obtain affordable food, healthcare, and education.  As I began to coordinate my next town hall events, I intend to share your idea with my staff. Thank you again for cont...
