Letter #1 by BT (ICE)
A letter from Cindy Hyde-Smith and a suggested response
Dear Ms. T…..:
Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
As a strong supporter of strengthening border security and the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws, I stand with ICE and all our federal law enforcement officers who risk their lives to keep our communities safe. President Trump won election to a second term, in part, because he promised to secure the border and address all the criminal, economic, and social harms caused by the Biden administration’s ill-advised open border policies. I do not condone law enforcement officers being demonized for carrying out their duties to uphold the rule of law and protect public safety. I recognize that some may not support how our nation’s immigration laws are being enforced, but do not believe that opposition should be expressed by attempting to impede a law enforcement action. As we saw in Minneapolis, Minnesota, such activities can quickly deescalate to a tragic loss of life.
It is a great privilege to represent the people of Mississippi, and I will always strive to justify the confidence that has been placed in me as your United States Senator.
Having the benefit of your views is important to me. I appreciate your taking the time to write.
Sincerely,
CINDY HYDE-SMITH
United States Senator
CHS/RR
Response to Cindy Hyde-Smith’s position on ICE.
Dear Senator Hyde-Smith:
Indivisible DeSoto MS is in receipt of your letter covering your position on ICE.
To put it bluntly, you are wrong. There is no place in America for a masked militia terrorizing her citizens or any human being.
We have laws in this country that are meant to keep us safe and allow us to protest our government. Your response proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will do and say whatever it takes to keep your seat in Congress.
Our organization has endorsed Scott Colom and we will work hard to elect him to replace you.
Sincerely,
Letter #2 by KC (Do your job)
This is an adaptation of an internet meme.
Dear Congress:
Find some strength in yourself and stand up for this country and the people who live here.
We have a masked militia in our streets murdering citizens who are doing nothing wrong.
If you cannot find it in yourself to do something about that, then please know we will find new leadership.
If you think you are safe because you live in a non-competitive district, think again.
We are not afraid of figuring out how to get you out of office if you will not keep us safe.
Do your jobs. Do it with an ounce of the bravery of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Do better or do a different job.
Sincerely,
