It is very discouraging to hear one of our Senators telling his constituents to “get a life”. You are complaining about the people who gave you your well paid job contacting you with their concerns?
How about you hold a Town Hall in DeSoto County so we can tell you our concerns? To the best of my knowledge, I can’t remember Senator Wicker ever holding a Town Hall in DeSoto County.
Your voting record does not always support the people of Mississippi.
Nationally,
86% of Americans Support Background Checks
70% of Americas Support Safe & Legal Abortions
70% of Americans Support a Pathway to Citizenship
And you voted against the recent FEMA legislation?! How does this help Mississippi?
Senator Wicker, we hear what you say and we are watching what you do
Sincerely,

Here are some examples of letters from around the state:
Letter #1
Senator Roger Wicker
501 East Court Street
Jackson, MS 39201
Dear Senator Wicker:
All of the undersigned heard about what you said at last week’s Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce luncheon, some of it caught on video, and we’re shocked by your patronizing and demeaning comments about us – your constituents who call and write your office. Do you not want to hear from us? Do you feel like you represent only those who share your views, or only those who are completely uninterested in politics? Surely not! You represent ALL of your constituents and should be glad to understand the full spectrum of views in this great and diverse state of Mississippi.
We are your constituents too, and we often make calls to your office. Why? Because we care deeply about this country and this state. Don’t you dare tell us to “get a life”! Our lives have been affected negatively in many ways under the present administration, and we’re all very worried about the future of our country. You’re one of only three Congressional representatives that we have – two Senators and a Congressman. Who else should we be calling? We turn to you because you’re a senior Senator who has a great deal of power, but we’re distressed to see how seldom you speak up about the rampant corruption and manipulation of the truth in the Trump administration. It seems that Republicans in Congress, yourself included, can do nothing but bow to President Trump’s every wish.
Do we “have something better to do”? What an ugly thing for you to say about us! We all have busy lives with personal and professional responsibilities. But we always make time to call your office because we’re distressed about what’s happening under the Trump administration and we want our voices to be heard. You should be grateful for our calls, and for those of your other constituents who care enough to be in touch with you. I hope you’re ashamed of what you said, and we expect an immediate and public apology.
Sincerely,
Letter #2

Senator Roger Wicker
425 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Wicker:
We are writing in response to your comments at the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce Q&A. You indicated that we (your constituents) are wasting time contacting you and that we should “Get a Life!”. Let us discuss both your responsibilities to the Life and Welfare of your constituents and your suggestion that advocacy for the most vulnerable Mississippians is not “a Life”.
We fully expect a response to these concerns withing 2 weeks.
Sincerely:
Letter #3: My personal favorite. Applause to whoever wrote this missive. 👏 You know what to do…copy and paste.

Dear Senator Wicker:
I write to you today in response to your recent disparaging comments about those of us who choose to spend OUR precious time to remind YOU of your obligations to your constituents in Mississippi. You seem to have forgotten that your oath is to the Constitution, and your responsibilities to Mississippi; not to the fascist felon and sexual predator who currently occupies the White House.
Since January, many of us call and email your offices regularly, about a number of different subjects. To the extent you care to respond to us at all, your letters are canned, lack factual support, and are often times deceitful. For example, I know that your office received thousands of calls from Mississippians concerned about Medicaid cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill, as you call it. Among our concerns were the following:
These cuts will have a dramatic effect on residents throughout Mississippi, including many who have voted for you on many occasions. Of course, you and your colleagues made sure these effects would not become obvious to voters until AFTER the 2026 mid-term elections. In a similarly deceptive manner, you stated in a recent email to voters that the Big Beautiful Bill “strengthens many health and education programs for our nation’s most vulnerable populations while reducing waste, fraud, and abuse. This legislation returns Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to their original mission of serving this population by establishing work and community engagement requirements for able-bodied, working-age adults with no dependents.”
In reality, no one who supports this law has identified any significant waste, fraud, or abuse on the part of Medicaid recipients. And frankly, even if a hospital were paid Medicaid funds for a patient who technically should not have received Medicaid coverage, WHO CARES? Is an isolated event like that (which has yet to be identified, to be sure) a legitimate basis for denying coverage to struggling Mississippians? Is it a legitimate basis for increasing the burden of uncompensated care on our already struggling hospitals? Surely not.
There is far more waste, fraud, and abuse that has in fact been identified at the Pentagon, which you oversee as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Not to mention the potential for waste, fraud, and abuse in such federal contracts as the recently awarded $1 billion contract to Bollinger Shipyards to build three ice cutters that won’t be available for five more years, at the earliest. I wonder what red tape and hoops Bollinger has to jump through to keep that contract? Probably not much, since your preference is to regulate the poor, the immigrant, the brown-skinned, the marginalized, the LGBTQ+ community, and women’s bodies, rather than to regulate the “job creators.”
I know you proudly boast of the jobs created in the shipping industry on the Gulf Coast. But what if we invested into our healthcare system in Mississippi like we do in the military industrial complex? Just imagine. Good-paying jobs, good benefits, lots of local and state tax revenue, lower healthcare costs for everyone, better access to quality healthcare, and a healthier population! But thank goodness we’ll have those three ice-breakers in five years. Those will SURE help Mississippi.
While you believe I should be spending my time doing things other than writing this letter, as a proud Mississippian and a proud American, I can’t think of anything more important than educating my poorly-informed and/or deceitful elected officials and calling attention to their failures to do right by their constituents. So I will keep calling, keep writing, keep speaking up, and keep showing up, because I am fed up with people who have the power to make a difference but lack the courage to do so.
Sincerely,
